Where to Buy Big Red in Glass Bottles

Big Red is still made in a glass bottle, and it gets hard to find once you leave Texas. We ship Big Red. It is a red cream soda. Vanilla, lemon, and orange. It is not cherry, and it is not a cola - it is uniquely different and delicious.
What does Big Red taste like?
People who meet it late in life say bubble gum. Texans will fight you on that, then hand you a plate of barbecue and a cold bottle. The bubble gum note is real. So is the vanilla, and so is the lemon and orange under it. That is the whole drink.
Is Big Red still made in a glass bottle?
Yes. The big plastic jug in a Texas grocery is the everyday one, corn syrup and all. The glass bottle is the one people want after they move. Sweetened with real sugar. It has a little caffeine, not a wallop.Â
Why is it called Big Red?
Waco already had Dr Pepper. In 1937 Grover Thomsen and R.H. Roark mixed a new soda there and called it Sun Tang Red Cream Soda. For a long time you mostly found it in Central Texas, South Texas, and around Louisville.
The short name came off a golf course. Harold Jansing ran the San Antonio plant. Caddies kept calling the soda a big red. One day he ordered four big reds. The caddy brought him a different drink. That did it. Sun Tang Big Red Cream Soda in 1959. Just Big Red in 1969.
Six bottles is $29.99. That is where free shipping starts in the continental U.S. Build the mix on Build Your Pack. One Big Red, one Dublin Texas root beer, and four bottles you have not tried yet is a good way to leave the state without leaving the kitchen.
